Many people think that cigar smoking is less dangerous than slim cigarettes smoking. But a single large cigar contains an entire pack of cigarettes. Cigar is any roll of tobacco wrapped in tobacco leaf, while a cigarette is any roll of tobacco wrapped in paper. Cigars do not usually include a filter. Most cigars are manufactured of a single type of dried or air-cured tobacco. Cigar tobacco leaves should be aged for about a year and then fermented in a multi-step process that can take within 3 – 5 months. This method of fermentation causes bacterial and chemical reactions that change the tobacco and gives cigars a special smell and taste from cigarettes. Cigars are presented in different sizes, some of them are large and others are as small as cigarettes (called a cigarillo). Large cigar usually contains between 5 and 17 grams of tobacco. Usually it takes between 1 to 2 hours to smoke large cigar. Cigar smokers represent a high degree of refinement and taste, success, affordable luxury. The tobacco industry gets movie stars and athletes involved in the advertising work. This image glamorizes cigars and the willingness of these celebrities to smoke. Young adults and teenagers are very vulnerable because of the false idea that cigars are a safe alternative to cigarettes. Some tobacco companies add chocolate, strawberry, and other sweet flavors.
