Life sentence for selling fake cigsIn China, in Zhejiang Province, a man was accused of selling fake cigarettes and court decided to send the offender to prison for life. Li Kuancai practiced this business since 2005 and worth more than 7.6 million yuan that is around 1.07 million in US dollars. Li with his accomplices sold more than 5,735 boxes of fake cigarettes on local tobacco market. China police arrested Li and his team and all his wealth was confiscated. Li is the main accused and was sentenced to life in prison. His 10 accomplices were accused for selling fake smokes and spoiling the market order. Court found them guilty and they got sentences from 6 to 15 years in jail. This case is extraordinary not only through stringent accusation, but through its amount. A court official said this case is the largest fraud concerned with fake cigarettes that was ever detected in Zhejiang Province. |
