Smoking pics for Malaysia are ready to be printedMalaysian state decided to join to the list of states that signed the World Health Organisation Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. Government plans to introduce pictorial messages on all packs of cigs sold on local market. As said the Health Minister Liow Tiong pictures can be more efficient than written messages. “Pictures of the hazards caused by smoking, such as damaged lungs and bad teeth, will be used on cigarette packs. We feel that by putting pictures, we will be able to send a more alarming warning to consumers,” he said. Pictures contain messages and images on the dangers of smoking. Images will let longlasting impression than elementary written text. As was asserted, the pictorial warnings should be displayed on cigarette packs by November. “The ministry has met with all cigarette companies in the country and they are supporting the move to send a stronger ‘no smoking’ message to the people,” Liow said. |
