In Indonesia Ramadan helped to rise cigarette producing

One of the most important events in Islamic religion, the month of Ramadan, has begun. According to wikipedia, Ramadan is one of most important and blessed months of Islamic religion that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, when the Qur'an is exposed. During Ramadan, Muslims ought to abstain from eating, drinking, smoking, having sex all day long, till dusk. It is believed that during Ramadan they purify their bodies and souls.

Indonesia is regarded as the city with the largest number of Muslims and namely here this event occurred under full-size performance, prostitutes inclusively. Indonesian authorities thought to offer prostitutes a job. This proposal results when the holy Muslim month of Ramadan starts, period when prostitutes’ everyday job is prohibited. Authorities plan to give the sex workers money to buy tobacco and paper and instruct them to produce hand-rolled cigarettes. Manufactured cigarrettes will be supplied to cigarette factories.

“We can't ask them to stop operating during Ramadan without giving them an alternative means of income, as this is our moral obligation,” Ihwanul Muslimin, the head of Malang's public order police unit, was quoted in the Jakarta Post.

World’s largest archipelagic state is the world's fifth-largest tobacco market. Indonesia has a population equaled with 234 million people from which 7 millions work in tobacco enterprises. In Malang 321 large and small-scale cigarette factories are located.

According to the local health office, nearly 500 women from this region work as prostitutes.

Most fascinating is that prostitution is not banned in Indonesia, but it is considered to be a sin in Islam. This is one of the cases when religion and administration contradict each other.
