Selling of smoking cigarettes to minors is one of today’s important problems. Every country tried to find resolution at this tobacco predicament.It creates difficulties for Asian part of world. In Taiwan, were signed Hazards Prevention Act that consist of prohibition of selling smoking product to children that doest reach 18 year.

At this act were promoted to main Taiwan tobacco stores that put on the market smoking products. Four major convenience store chains – FamilyMart, Nikomart, OK, and Hi-Life - signed that covenant. They assured that they would respect Tobacco Act and wouldn’t sell fag to teenagers under the age of 18.

These store proprietors owned around 4,500 stores throughout Taiwan. It is important step for resolution youngsters’ problem.According to this Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act, store cashiers had to refuse children who want to buy smoking products on behalf of adults. Also, cashiers are allowed to ask for personal ID before selling cigarettes to them.

There are proprietors that doesn’t sigh this tobacco act. Major convenience store chain, doesn’t sign it, but top executive indicated that 7-Eleven's 4,000 outlets throughout Taiwan have already been observing the practice.

Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act appeared in 1997 and was planed for forbidding sale of cigarettes to anyone under 18 and those who wouldn’t respect it are subject to a fine of up to NT$15,000 , that in dollars is equal to $454.

This penalty doesn’t scary proprietors of chine stores. As show results of a survey conducted by the Consumers' Foundation last year showed that 70.4 per cent of convenience stores sold cigarettes to minors - FamilyMart had a 90 per cent violation rate, OK and Nikomart 70 per cent, 7-Eleven 67.7 per cent and Hi-Life 60 per cent.
